Thailand and Vietnam from Oct. 27th-Dec.16th!

Travel Plans for Thailand:

As most of you (important ones) know, Joe and I are traveling to Thailand leaving October 27th for about 50 days. Here we have decided on a certain journey which is in the making still but coming together quite nicely with the help of a few lonely planet guides, the Internet, and day to day chit chat which has sparked many hot spots for our destinations to come.

So far this is what we have planned out, the rest will fall into place as we arrive and transition. We will be arriving in Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday Oct 29th around 1 am and checking into a mysterious hostel which is conveniently open 24 hours. We will get our nights rest there and then awake in the morning, Joe may sleep in there too, but either way we will be checking into our Hotel called the Lamphu Tree Hotel for the next 5 days.

We will either extend our stay there or switch to another hotel for a couple more days until our flight to Vietnam.
There we will stay for about two weeks with two particular excursions in mind. One being a three day kayaking trip in Halong Bay and another being a country side expedition in Sa Pa including one three night home stay with a local family in the tribal village. Sa Pa has beautiful rice terracing across the whole countryside, so instead of flat rows of wheat and corn which we are used to in the Midwest, we will be experiencing a little different scenery which is a completely normal day to day farming technique there.

After Sa Pa we will fly back to Bangkok and then head south in Thailand to the beautiful islands and turquoise water. I can't say for certain right now where we are headed first, but I will update you as soon as I figure it out. Hopefully I will get Joe to post on here too, because he is great at documenting adventures. This will give you both of our perspectives on where we will be!

Stay tuned, many photos and travel stories to come....

  2. Carl, I can't believe you'd want that as the next post! Right now, I bet you guys are on the beach or meandering thru the crowded streets of bangkok looking for a good spot to have a beer or glass sake. Hope ya made it safe and relax a little bit before the excursions begin over there. Kayaking sounds amazing but so does Sa Pa's scenery! I bet you can't go wrong with whichever you two end up doing, enjoy!
